A Killer Brunch Scene with Amazing French Toast
Good things come to those who wait. If you stop by Weezie’s Kitchen in Carytown on Sunday morning without planning ahead, waiting is exactly what you’ll do. But trust me—it’s worth it!
Richmond has rapidly become a foodie town, and Weezie’s is your quintessential hole-in-the-wall, with no more than fifteen tables and a small bar. Morning, noon, and night you can find creative twists on American classics. I live only a five-minute walk away and didn’t know it existed until a friend of mine recommended we go for brunch.
Little did I know that their Captain Crunch French Toast would forever change my outlook on brunch. Getting that extra crunch from the cereal on the outside of a perfectly soft, buttery piece of bread (along with some crispy bacon and fruit) was worth any wait.
My love affair with Weezie’s has only grown as I introduce it to more and more friends. It became our tradition to head there early on weekends, once it starts to get warm. We sit in the front, the doors wide open to Carytown, and eat awesome food, do some serious people watching, and drinking mimosas (of course!).
