Chrome extensions for SEO

There are Chrome extensions for just about everything. That's a blessing and a curse.

Here are the Chrome extensions our team has found most valuable for day-to-day use to audit and monitor sites' performance.

  • AMP Validator. Instantly tells you if a page has a AMP version if it the AMP validates.
  • Ayima Page Insights. Page Insights helps you discover common on-page SEO and technical issues in real time, exposing common errors and issues that can easily slip through the cracks. Any time you visit a page, the extension will analyze it and immediately report any issues it discovers. These issues are broken down in to three categories: Errors, warnings, and information. The extension will then let you know—quite loudly in the case of errors—what it's found and why you should care.
  • Ayima Redirect Path. Redirect Path flags 301, 302, 404, and 500 HTTP Status Codes, as well as client-side redirects like Meta and Javascript redirects, bringing potential issues that may not otherwise be seen to your attention immediately. As well as flagging redirects and errors, the plugin also displays other HTTP Headers (such as server types and caching headers) and the server IP Address—all at the click of a button.
  • Builtwith. BuiltWith lets you find out what tech a website uses with a simple click on the icon.
  • Check Broken Links. When you are editing a content that has lots of links, wouldn't it be handy to check that all the links on the page are working? This extension scans your page (or the whole site) and provides a broken links report within a few minutes. The report is generated directly without installing and running any additional program files.
  • Check My Links. A link checker that crawls your webpage and looks for broken links.
  • Enhanced Google Analytics Annotations. See Google Algorithm Updates and Global Holidays in your Google Analytics reports. This tool allows you to automate the process of adding notes to your GA reports.
  • Extract Links from this page. An easy-to-use extractor or grabber for hyperlinks on an HTML page. Extract links from an HTML page and display them in another tab.
  • Eye Dropper. Get the code of colors with your mouse.
  • Full Page Screen Capture. The simplest way to take a full-page screen capture of your current browser window. Click on the extension in your browser bar, wait for the image version of the web page to be generated, and then it will open in a new tab. You can save-as or just drag to your desktop. No bloat, just a simple way to turn a full web page into an image.
  • Ghostery. Ghostery is a powerful privacy extension. Block ads, stop trackers, and speed up websites.
  • Google Tag Assistant. Tag Assistant helps to troubleshoot installation of various Google tags including Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and more.
  • Grammarly. Words are tough; this will help.
  • Great Suspender. A lightweight extension to reduce Chrome's memory footprint. Perfect if you have a lot of tabs open at the same time. Tabs that have not been viewed after a configurable length of time are automatically suspended in the background, freeing up the memory consumed by that tab.
  • LastPass. LastPass saves your passwords and gives you secure access from every computer and mobile device. Only remember one password—your LastPass master password. Save all your usernames and passwords to LastPass, and it will autologin to your sites and sync your passwords everywhere you need them.
  • Link Redirect Trace. Catch rogue "noindex" tags and canonical issues.
  • MozBar. MozBar gives you instant metrics while viewing any page or SERP. Create custom searches by engine, country, region, or city. Quickly assess the Page Authority and Domain Authority of any site or page. Access and compare link metrics across pages while viewing any SERP. Find and highlight keywords on a page and differentiate links by type: Followed, No-Followed, External, or Internal. Expose page elements, general attributes, markup, and HTTP status. Export your SERP analysis details to a CSV file.
  • Nimbus Screenshot. Capture a full web page or any part. Edit screenshots. Record screencasts—right from your screen.
  • Observe Point. Troubleshoot and audit analytics tags, variables, and on-click events. Supports Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Ensighten, and more. ObservePoint’s TagDebugger troubleshoots analytics and marketing tags on your live website. TagDebugger captures page-load and event-triggered requests for marketing and analytics tags and parses them into a human-readable format, allowing for easy tag debugging.
  • One Tab. Whenever you find yourself with too many tabs, click the One Tab icon to convert all your tabs into a list. When you need to access the tabs again, restore them individually or all at once.
  • OpenLink Structured Data Sniffer. Quickly view all types of structured data on a page. You can easily copy and export it, too.
  • Portent's SEO Page Review. Review common SEO elements and issues on a page.

  • SEO Minion. Analyze the HTML of any webpage and view useful information to help you optimize on-page SEO and alert you to any issues. Highlight all links—quickly see all the links (internal and external) for any webpage. Check every link on a webpage and get a report of links with issues. Check hreflang tag validity, as well as whether return tags are present.
  • SEO Site Tools. On-page and external metrics, social media info, page rank and numbering on Yahoo, Bing, and Google SERPs.
  • Show Title Tag. Shows the title at the top of the page since you can't read the title in small tabs. You can move the bar to each corner so it's never obstructing the website. You can also hide it on pages where you don't want it. Hover your mouse over the area to see the title length.
  • Tech SEO. A drop-down list of audit tools to help any Internet marketer analyze their own or a competitor's web page.

  • View Rendered Source. A lightweight Chrome Extension that shows you how the browser has constructed (rendered) a page's original HTML into a functioning DOM, including modifications made by JavaScript. An essential tool for web developers using JavaScript frameworks like Angular, ReactJS, and Vue.js.
