Did We Mention Richmond Has Breweries?
I know I’m not alone among my coworkers when I say I love beer. But when I moved to Richmond, I had no idea how many local breweries there were—they’re everywhere! For example, Rock Bottom Brewery in Short Pump is the first brewery I’ve ever seen in a mall. A little closer to the city is Strangeways, which has some of the more unique names I’ve ever seen for brews, like Woodbooger and Albino Monkey.
Legend and 7 Hills are great for lunch during the week, and Hardywood is an excellent hangout spot when the weather is nice. They often have live music, and a bunch of us from Workshop even joined a bocce league that plays on the courts there! We lost a lot, but we sure enjoyed some good beer as we did.
There are more breweries farther from the city, too. I never would’ve ventured out to Midnight Brewery if I hadn’t played a gig there, but they have their own following and a delicious red ale. There are still plenty of local breweries I haven’t tried, but I haven’t been disappointed yet, and can’t wait to cross more off my list!
