Fall mornings are my favorite. I look forward to the chill of the morning air and the smell of fallen leaves. Add in football, pumpkin carving, and valid excuses to scare people, and I would classify fall as my favorite season.
One such cool morning last weekend, the Workshop Digital team volunteered for HandsOn RVA, a one-day event that brings groups of volunteers together to clean up, fix up, and help out in many of Richmond’s forgotten corners.
Our team of 20 volunteers were dispatched to The Doorways to assist with a variety of clean up tasks that make their facility a nicer place for their guests. We removed trash from an alley, pulled weeds, painted a parking garage, and power washed a driveway. A few hours later, they had a more welcoming entryway and a better representation of the good they do for our community. Just as importantly, we bonded as a team.
Thanks to the effort of a dedicated leadership team, HandsOn RVA has grown and this year was able to produce some great work for our city:
- Mobilized over 1,000 volunteers
- Gave over 4,000 hours back to Greater Richmond
- Supported over 60 nonprofit partners at nearly 70 projects throughout the region
We are proud to be a part of this event every year!
