Hello and welcome! I’m glad you’re here. Since this is my first blog post, I thought I would start out with a brief bio and then get to the stuff you really care about.
A little about me:
My name is Andrew Miller and I’m a founder of this company. I was raised in Atlanta, Georgia in a family setting that most closely resembles The Griswolds. I was very fortunate to have wonderful parents that recognized and encouraged hard work and dedication but never could seem to escape our crude and obnoxious behavior. I’m the middle child of 3, and I challenge anybody to claim a more hilarious case of sibling rivalry. After high school I packed up and moved away from family and friends to the beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia to attend The University of Richmond. I graduated with dual degrees in Computer Science and Spanish and have been fortunate enough to put both to use in real-world applications. I met the woman that would become my wife at U of R and have been blessed with her presence every day since. In fact, she’s the reason I’m here today. We recently moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan (Go Blue!) so she can pursue a fantastic post-grad educational opportunity at the University of Michigan.
After college, I spent several years with The Martin Agency in Richmond as a traditional and interactive media planner on some of their largest accounts and new business pitches. I loved my time there and learned a lot, and as the son of a career “ad man” I can truly appreciate the expertise, hard work and dedication that goes into the big-budget traditional advertising industry. The more I got involved with the interactive side of the business, the more I realized that it was my true calling. Not entirely satisfied with the long-term career potential there, I stumbled on a great position at the CarMax Used Car Superstore home office in Richmond on the online marketing side the carmax.com team. Again, I lucked out and was part of a great team and a great company that has truly revolutionized the used car industry. If you haven’t heard of them yet, you will. My responsibilities included developing strategies and tactical implementation for all forms of online marketing: display, search (lots of search), PR, partnerships, affiliate marketing, shopping sites. You name it, we tested it.
As luck would have it my wife’s work brought us to Ann Arbor and now I’m out on my own as a Search Engine Marketing Consultant, which brings us to:
Why we’re here
I started this company to help others take advantage of all the opportunities that exist online to build their businesses. Your Search Advisor is not a typical search engine marketing firm that focuses on just one piece of the SEM pie. As the number and type of search engines increase, so does the level of complexity involved with harnessing their ability to reach your target audience online. Well, I enjoy a challenge…and nothing is more exciting to me than being a part of the rapid growth of a life-altering medium that was not even around when I was a kid.
What we do
We take a top-down approach to search engine marketing, starting with a high-level overview of your business, your marketing programs (online and offline), your customers, your industry and the search engine landscape. We focus on improving your business and accomplishing your objectives by customizing a search engine marketing program and working with you to optimize our way towards success. This approach includes all forms of search engines: web search, local search, mobile, multimedia, social networks, shopping sites, vertical search engines, etc. This way, we are sure to leave no stone unturned as we seek the most efficient and effective means to accomplish your goals.
Future plans
I will use this space to share my perspective on the dynamic field of search engine marketing and how it applies to businesses everywhere. I’ll leave the breaking news to other highly reputable bloggers and industry sources in favor of focusing on the inherently complex relationship between a website and a search box.
Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to leave a comment, contact me or subscribe to our RSS feed. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
