Workshop Digital is proud to once again present our Outstanding JMU Digital Marketing Student Award, recognizing a student who exemplifies passion, curiosity, and dedication to the field. This year, we’re thrilled to honor Lillian Torello as the 2025 recipient!

Originally from Hamden, CT, Lillian is pursuing a degree in marketing with concentrations in both digital marketing and European business. Congratulations, Lillian!

Now in its 12th year, the $1,000 award celebrates students who not only demonstrate a strong grasp of digital marketing concepts through their coursework but also apply their knowledge beyond the classroom.

When asked what this award means to her, Lillian shared:

“...winning this award reminds me that there is real value in being driven, curious, and open to growth, even when the path isn’t always linear…I followed the things I enjoyed doing, got involved, and stayed open to learning along the way. This recognition affirms that following those instincts matters.” – Lillian Torello

In the fast-paced and ever-evolving world of digital marketing, Lillian’s perspective really resonated with the Workshop Digital team.

We received 13 impressive applications this year, each reflecting a strong passion for digital marketing. Lillian stood out by striking the perfect balance of subject matter expertise, sincerity, creativity, and enthusiasm—qualities that truly connected with our panel.

A hot topic around the Workshop Digital office lately? The proliferation of AI tools in the day-to-day professional ecosystem. Lillian’s take:

“While there’s a common narrative that AI will soon replace jobs, I see it more as a tool to amplify human potential rather than completely dissolve professional roles. Just like any new technology or expansive innovation, regulation and mindful use are necessary. Nonetheless, for digital marketers, it may ultimately help more than harm.” – Lillian Torello

We couldn’t agree more. Lillian’s thoughtful approach mirrors our outlook on the role of AI in our field, and we are excited to have next-generation digital marketers like Lillian join us as we forge ahead.

Lillian’s demonstration of industry knowledge, relevant marketing experience both on- and off-campus, and excitement about the future of digital marketing all contributed to her well-deserved recognition.

From all of us at Workshop Digital, congratulations again to Lillian, and best of luck to all the JMU Class of 2025 graduates as you begin your next chapter!
